In 1972 the Barclay label released in France a studio LP with the first French adaptation of the work, recorded by the Ivan Jullien Big Band with the label's own singers: Eddy Mitchell, Nino Ferrer, Nicoletta, Les Poppys, Dave, Zanini, Joël Daydé, Jeanie Bennett, Maurice Dulac, Marianne Mille and Emmanuel Booz. The French adaptation is by Pierre Delanoë, with arrangements and musical direction by Jullien himself. I hold the recording in mp3.

The Encyclopédisque entry documents the edition (Barclay 80 459, 1972) and its technical credits: artistic direction by Richard Bennett, sound recording by Charles Rochko and assistant Joachim Roy; the cover is by Patrick Loiseau. A fan website adds that it was recorded at the Studio Barclay-Hoche in Paris, a detail I have not been able to confirm anywhere else; Discogs, for its part, dates the LP to 1970, against the 1972 given by the French sources.

The LP runs through eleven numbers: Ouverture; Chanson de Judas (Eddy Mitchell); Dites-moi ce qui se passe (Nino Ferrer); Tout ira très bien (Jeanie Bennett); Le Temple (Maurice Dulac and Marianne Mille); Chanson de Marie-Madeleine (Nicoletta); Hosanna (Les Poppys); Gethsémanie (Dave); Chanson d'Hérode (Zanini); Superstar (Joël Daydé) and Crucifixion – Final (Emmanuel Booz).
